Family Reunion

Last weekend Maddy and I traveled up to Champaign for the annual McCarty Reunion. We had it a little earlier this year because my cousin Michael was home from Hungary with his beautiful little girl Kesha who was born in June. Maddy was a trooper in the car on the way up. She happily played with her toys, watched Elmo and read books until we stopped for lunch outside of Effingham. After lunch she quickly dozed off for a short nap before we arrived.

Everyone was there to greet us when we arrived. Maddy was fascinated by the baby and kept waving and saying "Hi baby hi". She actually played shy for a little while but soon warmed up and impressed everyone with her extensive vocabulary.

To kill some time before dinner I took Maddy down to the indoor pool where she happily practiced swimming and then splashing me. We even took a break and sat in the hot tub for a few minutes.

By the time the Illini game came on Maddy had made herself at home and got herself a good spot to watch the game with grandpa and munch on some popcorn. She went to bed like an angel and stayed in her crib until 6am. I pulled her into bed with me and had to actually wake her up at 8:30 so we could get some breakfast before we headed to the outlet mall. We made one stop at the Carter's outlet, grabbed lunch and hit the road for home. Maddy fell asleep as soon as we left the outlet mall and slept all the way home. I think this girl was born to travel.
