More Snow Fun

Today before the snow melted away we decided to try sledding again. The snow was perfect and Maddy LOVED it! I thought she might get scared because she was going pretty fast. I laughed out loud when she announced "this is fun" as she was going down a hill.



After sledding wore the grownups out Maddy was content to eat snow, lay on her back and eat more snow.








She also thought laying in the trees looked like fun and ended up being a really cute picture.

Camp Out with Dad

One of the greatest parts of staying home with Daddy in the winter is that he makes awesome tents! I can't tell you how many times I came home from work to find my family camping out in the living room. Maddy has to bring all of her toys in the tent, the dog, the cats and then eat a snack inside too!



I sure hope I can make tents this good in the summer!

Snow Day #2!!!

Since Mother Nature decided to dump another 4 inches of snow on us we decided to go sledding. Daddy ran up to the store and got a sled and we headed off to the Elmwood. Our friend Mike and his son Landon came out to join in the fun too! We thought our sled was pretty neat but the snow was so deep that when you pulled it tipped over. Maddy didn't seem to mind and actually thought it was pretty funny.



After falling face first into the snow a couple dozen times, Maddy's cheeks were as red as cherries.




Daddy found that pushing the sled ended up being much easier than pulling. If the snow sticks around we might have to make another trip outside to enjoy it while we can.

Snow Day!!!

Today was my first snow day that was actually for snow! The last little bit of snow we had Maddy loved stomping in, so we were excited to let her play. We bundled everybody up and Mad looked so cute I couldn't help but take her picture.



Maddy stomped around for awhile and then decided to try picking some up. She tossed it around and pretty much ran back and forth.



Daddy was shoveling the drive way to make room for the rest of the snow that was forecasted to come later in the day. Maddy loves to help and tried pushing some herself.



Maddy started getting really comfortable with the snow! She was stomping through the deeper piles and falling down on purpose. She was even on her belly with her face in the snow so she could eat it!

Sesame Street Live

Tonight we went to see Sesame Street Live. We were unsure how Maddy would feel about the whole thing. She loved Clifford but wasn't crazy about Santa. We had been talking to her about it all week. We told her we were going to see Elmo sing and dance. She seemed pretty excited and even cried for Elmo because the car ride took longer than she thought it should.

When we got there we got some "dinner" and headed to our seats. When the show started Maddy got her face. If you have ever been around Maddy you know what face I'm talking about. She stayed that way for about 20 minutes. Brian and I were starting to think we had made a bad choice. The next song that Elmo sang made Maddy want to stand up and dance. We both let out a sigh of relief and enjoyed the rest of the show. We actually had to keep Maddy from running up closer to the stage. She was waving and saying "Hi Elmo Hi". As we hurried to the car after the show Maddy said "That was fun".

She was almost asleep when we pulled into the garage. She still had enough energy for a sweet smile!

Snow Much Fun

Today was the Parents as Teachers Snow Playgroup. Daddy brought Maddy to play and Mima brought Logan too! Maddy and Logan had a blast playing in the touch table with the fake snow. They enjoyed coloring, reading books and playing with all the neat toys.

This is Maddy's animal parade. She went over to the basket of animals, picked one out and then went and placed it in line with the others. I can't even imagine the kind of wheels that were turning in her head. The parade was a lot longer by the time she was done.

This face cracks me up! Maddy really loves to use chalk. She plays with her easel a lot at home. She is getting pretty good at making a circle and has even started making a scribble and telling us what she made "a big sun".
After playgroup I got to meet up with everyone for lunch. Maddy and Logan stole the show as always. Logan was feeding Maddy bites of his lunch and then they both started holding up their shirts and tickling each other.

Simple Things in Life

Today we stocked up on diapers and wipes and had two huge boxes left over. I love that kids can take something so simple and turn it into something SO fun. Maddy enjoyed trying to close herself in the diaper box. Daddy cut out enough room that she could close the lid all the way with her head still up.

This wipe box made a good pirate hat. It doesn't make any sense to us either but that's what she said it was and even added an enthusiastic "argh" when she wore it.

Helping Papa

The last month Maddy has really gotten into dressing up. She is always wanting us to pick her up so she can see herself in the bathroom mirror.

She also loves to look in the mirror and make different faces, pretend to cry, watch herself talk and look at her tongue (weird I know!).

We have had a full length mirror for a long time but it was never mounted. Luckily for us Papa Bob is so handy! He came over tonight with tools and brackets so that Maddy can make faces and dress up anytime. Maddy was a BIG help! I think she enjoyed playing with Papa's tape measure the most. Thanks Papa

22 months old!!!

What can I say another month has snuck by and Maddy continues to amaze us. This month we celebrated our Maddy's second Christmas. She didn't care much for the big guy himself but was so thankful for her gifts she called him on her play phone and said "Hi Santa I love my presents". It was neat to watch her get excited and say "Oh thank you".
It seems like overnight Maddy went from simple sentences to huge ones like "I want cereal in my bowl with milk in it." She has also started describing things "This block is not blue it is green" or "I not naked anymore". She has of course continued to sing but now makes up her own words "A baby Maddy is stuck in her highchair. She wants to go home, get her out." My latest favorite is to the tune Farmer in the Dell "Maddy wants a nap, Maddy wants a nap, I want a Binky in my mouth, Maddy wants a nap". Brian and I can hardly believe our ears sometimes. When you put her words together with her facial expressions we can't help but crack up.
Maddy has also discovered her full name and refers to herself as Madylin Brooke Horvath. We were riding in the car the other day and she giggled and said "Silly Madylin Brooke Horvath."
It tugs my heart as I write this because I just don't know where the time goes. Although I love each new adventure with Maddy, I often miss the little baby she seemed to be yesterday. I can only imagine how our mothers must feel when they look at us.

A Post of Love

It is with a heavy heart that I post today. My grandma lost her battle with cancer this morning. I prayed that when she was called it would be peaceful and for that answered prayer I am thankful. My grandmother was an amazing example of strength and class. She loved unconditionally and I am so thankful for the cherished memories I will hold forever close to my heart. She will be missed desperately.
