Logan and Emelia Come to Play

On Saturday Logan and Emelia got to come to our house for a play date. Our lives are so busy with work and being Mommies that Stacie, Stacy and I don't get together as much as we should. We were excited to get the kids together to play. Logan and Maddy get to see each other all the time at my mom's. We have not seen Emelia since her birthday in April! At first Maddy wasn't sure if she liked the idea of other kids playing with all of her toys but she calmed down pretty quick.

After playing for awhile we decided to take the kids up to lunch at the local pizza place. They have a small toy corner with a slide that is nice to send the kids to when you want talk or finish eating your own lunch. I attached a picture of the kids from last August when we were together. It is amazing how much they change!

It was really great to get together and catch up. We are hoping to take a trip to pick apples or pumpkins this fall. Oh, as you can see Maddy's newest trick is going down the slide head first! This girl is not for the faint of heart.

A Shower for Saxton

Brian's cousin Brandi and her husband Gus are expecting their first child in September. The family threw a shower for baby Saxton to help them prepare for his arrival. Saxton's arrival will add another boy to a family that until the last year was majority female.

The food was great and the company was even better. Maddy had such a great time playing with her cousins Ella, Theo, Gini, Nina and Audrey. When she wasn't running off with them she was trying to buckle her old car seat, trying on Ella's shoes and talking to Daisy through the door. Brandi got lots of great gifts including a beautiful diaper cake that cousin Sara made. As bed time got close Maddy enjoyed some ice cream cake with Grandma Katie. We put on our PJ's and headed home.

We can't wait to meet our new cousin Saxton! Our cousin Baby Boeker II is coming soon too! See you both in September.

Just Another Saturday at Our House

We don't have anything really exciting to blog so we thought we would just blog a typical day in our life. Maddy is always making her own fun and usually cracks us up with her imagination. She loves hats and decided this butter tub would make a good one. It was so cute I had to snap a picture. I am sure she will love me showing these off when she is older! As you can see on Saturday our PJ's stay on for as long as possible.

I am sad to admit it but I can't remember the last time either of our cars have really been washed. Sure we have ran them through the touch less car wash now and then but they were in desperate need of a good scrub. After Maddy's nap we got to it. Maddy was a big help washing the spots we had already rinsed and of course washing her chin. Luckily we just use dish soap to clean our cars.

Maddy quickly grew tired of car cleaning since we wouldn't let her climb up into the cars to play with all the buckles. She took her wetself over to the sandbox and sat right down in the middle. Daddy and I finished up the cars and then gave Maddy a good brushing off before we headed in for dinner.

We stripped Maddy down, because the brushing off wasn't enough to get her clean. She found Momma's shoes and decided to wear them around the house for awhile. She was telling Daddy that the dinner he was making was hot.

What a neat treat! We got to see a Hot Air Balloon go right over our back yard. So like I said nothing exciting just a little peek into a day in our life with the Madness, it is always entertaining!

17 months old!!!

Maddy is 17 months old!! This month we have been enjoying the last of our summer before Momma heads back to work. Great Grandpa came for a 2 week visit and nicknamed her screwball because she runs everywhere giggling and yelling. We have went swimming a couple more times and Maddy's love for the water continues to increase. She loves to jump in from the side and "swim" by kicking her legs. She doesn't always remember to keep her mouth closed though! She is also talking like crazy. Some things only Daddy and I understand melmo boo bu (elmo toothbrush) but others like chicken are clear as a bell. She has started putting together small sentences like "I see wagon" and "Daddy go work". It is really cute! She pretend talks on the phone (she usually makes the remote a phone) she puts it up to her ear and says "Hi Gogan (Logan) or "Hi Daddy". We are really starting to see the toddler appear in her. She will be willing to let you help one second and the next she wants to be totally independent. This often results in minor frustration. Maddy has went on the potty two times now but for the most part just enjoys sitting on it and reading a book.

Maddy has also gotten used to sleeping in. We have had to wake her up at 7:30 a couple of mornings so Daddy could take her to Grandma's and Momma could go to work. Unfortunately she wakes up like me and even though she is awake doesn't really want to get out of bed for awhile. Fortunately telling her she is going to Grandma's to see Logan gets her up pretty quick. Exciting this month is that Maddy is actually started to recognize some letters! At first Brian and I thought it was a total coincidence but she can always pick out the letter "O" and is pretty good at picking out "Y, H, I, S and sometimes X". She also loves to do the actions to the Itsy Bitsy Spider, I love when she does the sun part, SOOO cute! She loves playing ball with Nola but gets mad when Nola won't give it back. We have also moved Maddy to a booster seat at the table. She seems to like sitting with us at the table and is very good about leaving her plate on her place mat and thanks to my mom her food on her plate.

All in all we sure wish Maddy would stop growing up so fast but we are loving the everyday adventures of our little family! We love you Maayn Obth (which is how Maddy says her full name)!
