Lunch w/Friends

Every once in awhile my two best friends Stac, Stacy and I tries to get ourselves and the kids together for lunch. We love the Olive Garden and Stac and Stacy both hard gift cards to burn. We met and Maddy and Logan got along as always and Ms. Emelia was a little shy but eventually fell right in with the other two. We of course had to snap a pic of the three together. It is amazing how big they are. The Olive Garden was the first place we all met for lunch when they were tiny in their pumpkin seats.

Pool Days

This summer Maddy and I are spending a lot of the hot days at the pool with friends. Maddy loves the pool and enjoys going in the big pool to practice swimming. She is not crazy about going under but we are working on it. In the baby pool she likes to crawl around and play in the fountain. The other night we packed a picnic dinner and took Daddy to the pool with us and swam until it was almost bedtime.

Big Girl Bedding

I decided it was time to remove the last of Maddy's baby bedding out of her room and replace it with new bedding. We had a hard time finding something we liked. It seems like a lot of the bedding right now is in neon colors or with really wild patterns. I didn't want my toddler to have teenager bedding. Heaven knows that will come soon enough. We finally found this Fairy Tale bedding at Kohls. The little fairies are so cute. My creative mom is in the process of making her some curtains out of cute striped fabric we found. The bedding is a twin but Maddy doesn't seem to mind using it on her toddler bed for now.

Cutie

Maddy was looking so cute today with her summer tan that I just had to snap a couple quick shots. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of seeing her smile!

Dora the Explorer

Brian's cousin Laura was so sweet to offer us tickets for Dora the Explorer at the Fox. Maddy invited her friend Madison to come along and the girls had a blast. We have never sat in the box seats at the Fox and it was great for the girls to have room to dance and sing. We also were grateful for a private bathroom-the things that become important as a parent still make me laugh!.

We let the girls each get a backpack of choice and Maddy became Diego and Madison was Dora and they were on a mission to save baby Jaguar from the prickers and thorns the whole ride home. Thanks again BLaur we had a great time!

The Huge TV

Maddy had her first trip to the movies today. My friend Connie asked if we would like to join her and her daughter Madison to see the movie UP. I tried to explain to Maddy that we were going to watch a huge TV. When we got to the theater, we went to the Lincoln-we bought our popcorn and drinks. We were lucky enough that the movie was showing on the main screen. When the curtains opened Maddy's face was hysterical. I don't think she could get over how big the screen was.

The movie UP was probably not the best choice for a first movie. It was pretty long, the beginning was heartbreaking and there seemed to be a lot of violence. Maddy gets upset when Swiper is mean on Dora! She did good despite all of those things and we also almost lost her shoe. We came back from the bathroom and I realized her sandal was gone. Luckily they had found it in the hall way. I can't believe she didn't mention "hey mom my shoe came off". Stinker!

ZOO Day

The weather today was so beautiful that my mom, brothers and I decided to head over to the ZOO. Being members is so nice. We rode the train, the carousel and watched the camels. Maddy was fascinated by the baby camel who was running all over the place. This trip to the ZOO was pretty special for Maddy because it was her first all day outing in underwear. She has been wearing underwear at home for about a week and doing great ion short trips to Target etc. We had great fun and Maddy did great in her underwear!


As we were walking around this perfect picture spot showed up and I couldn't resist taking some quick pictures of Mad. I swear this camera is an addiction. I have to convince myself not to take it along sometimes.
