Apple Picking

On Thursday night Parents As Teachers had their annual apple picking family night at Eckert's. Last year we went and pretty much picked an apple for Maddy. This year Maddy LOVED it. As soon as we got there Maddy had to go see all the animals.

She was very excited about what she called cows (I'm not sure what they really are. They kind of look like cows with a big hump on their back). Once she got up close she realized how big they were and took quite a few steps back. The goats, deer and antelope were ok though. She enjoyed feeding all of them. She went up to the goat fence and yelled "come goat". I guess she was hoping they would mind as well as Nola.

After spending a good hour with the animals we decided to head out to pick some apples. Maddy could hardly wait her turn in line to board the tractor. When the tractor dropped us off we had to keep Maddy from picking the apples off the ground. We found a tree with some low apples and showed Maddy how to pick them off. She wanted her turn and she pulled and pulled. Daddy gave her a little help and then it popped right off.

The next words out of her mouth were of course "I eat apple". So daddy rubbed it off on his shirt and let her have it. With all of the teeth she now has she can really do a number on an apple. I of course was making sure she didn't bite off a piece big enough to choke on. Who knew being a mom could make you so paranoid!

We rounded up our friends Tyler, Madison and Ethan (Taylor was to busy) for a quick picture before we headed back on the tractor.

It was getting pretty close to Maddy's bedtime so we drank a little apple cider, snacked on some kettle corn and called it a night. I can't wait to take Maddy to pick out a pumpkin.
