Happy Birthday Theo

Today we went to celebrate cousin Theo's first birthday. There were tons of family and friends there to honor the birthday boy.

After everyone arrived at the party, Angie and Chris dressed Theo and began his Toljabee Event, a Korean tradition. In this event, the birthday child goes around the table and picks up items that attract him or her. The child's future is predicted according to what he or she grabs. After placing Theo in front of the table, Chris became the guide for him to go around the table and grab whatever he wanted. The first and second items he grabbed are considered the most important. Theo's future is predicted according to the items placed on the table:

Bow and arrow: he will become a warrior
Needle and thread: he will live long
Jujube: he will have many descendants
Book, pencil, or related items: he will become a successful scholar
Rice or rice cake: he will become rich
Ruler, needle, scissors: he will be talented with his/her hands
Knife: he will be a good cook
Money: he will have good fortune
During the toljabee ceremony, Theo picked up (in this order) the knife, the ruler and the money. Looks like Theo has a very bright future!

Then it was time for Theo to dig into his cake. He was a little unsure at first but then he dug right in.

Daddy took Maddy on a wagon ride.

Momma's turn for a ride.

Maddy and cousin Audrey got to play together. They are about 5 months apart so they really enjoy each others company. This picture is to die for. They are both such sweet girls!

Maddy had a really great time at Theo's party.

Happy Birthday Theo!
