Once a year the Zoo has Zoo Friends Day. On this day everyone that is a Zoo member gets to ride the train, carousel, see the Sea Lion show and enter the children's zoo for free. The Stingray exhibit was a special bonus this year. We all had to work but loaded up the kids after school and headed over. Mima, Papa Steve, Uncle Matt and Uncle Luke met us there. My friend Connie and her kids, Madison and Landon< rode with us. We decided to eat dinner before waiting in the huge stingray line. We asked a lady near the front how long the wait was and we were surprised it was only about 10 minutes.
The stingrays were so neat. You held your hand flat in the water and they swim right up to you and rub against your hand. I was shocked that they are slimy. I'm not sure what I expected them to feel like but that wasn't it. Maddy touched one and then every time one would get close she would lift her hand out of the water and watch it swim by. We went to the elephants and tried to ride the carousel but it was so crowded that we quickly turned around and went to the children's zoo instead. Before we knew it it was time to head home.
